I have been reading the many threads about UHF's and am just about ready to make a purchase for my HiLux
Thought I might ask here, as I know one or 2 of you guys either sell them or can get them cheap. Probably looking at an Icom that can be programmed to transmit at 25w Any info on models and pricing would be appreciated. (not really after model specifacations just numbers i guess to try and keep the thread tidy, i can look up the web for model specs)

Now I am interested, can it be switched between 5w legal and the highly illegal jam everyone in the region out while transmitting 25w?

It is 25w transmitting not receiving, when you transmit you will wipe out everyone, probably other close bands too, that is what happens on the UHF with some mines when I am driving the toy truck through them. It wouldn't be to hard to find you if you were using it while stationary for too long.

They scraped licencing cause it took up too much of the governments database so you do the maths Sawtron do nice clean power out of their units. Icom - same even 5 watt units can bleed also |
