Hey guys, looking for a replacement head for my early EL motor.
Has to be cleanish and in good condition. I was talking to a fella in Ballarat who had one but i cannot find him so Must be able to suit the rest of the EL engine i have running, including runners etc. Cheers

I've got an EF head that will bolt on OK. You can have it for $50. You may need to get the valves reseated (as the engine it was off did 200,000km).

i've got a low km EL head, came from an EL wagon with 90 000km on it, (wrecked car)
it has been fully stripped steam cleaned, bead blasted and crack tested. every thing is there to be reassembled. it currently owes me $400, it's your for $250 plus postage. |

Cheers As far as i know, it's never been touched befor. i took it off the engine at the wreckers myself and had it stripped cleaned and tested at the machine shop i use for all my engine stuff. You'd be starting with a completly clean and unmachined head. i'll be back in 15mins with some pics |

hmm, i want the compression raised to suit an lpg setup.
Do you know what it costs for a bit of machining work on the head to raise it up?

My camera has flat batteries. i'll get picks tomorrow.
most places charge about an hours labour to shave a head flat. but it depends how much has to come off, you'd be looking maybe $130 to have 40 to 50 thou taken off. |

no, just tell them to machine it to a certain thickness or a certain amount off its not a big deal to take 40thou off a head, just a few more cuts....$50 for a surface is the std rate

it's not a regulated industry there is no standard rate. most shops will charge an hour. |

no and i wouldnt bother other than to match port and general clean up of casting flaws (which there isnt many)..
also without flow testing it will be all seat of the pants

hmm i was reading the Autospeed article on the ford heads, seems 20% better breathing is achievable quite reasonably. Which is a whole lot better on the wallet side of things than fitting up a supercharger again

yeah but that is on an AU head and if u look at the chamber the inlet is shrouded quite a bit...
have a look on this site and there are a couple of people pulling near 180rwk with stock EB heads and log manifolds.... im not saying dont do it, but def get flow bench figures while your at it
