I have tried just about every wrecker in NSW and VIC and no luck at all.

mm its hard, as they are usually sold with the door trims.
your best bet would be to either try a pick n pull type wrecker, or contact a parts plus dealer or something like that, and get them to put them aside for you when they next get an el fairmont in (if they will)

Would ford have them if I tried spare parts at my local ford dealer?

Shooting people down like that when they're being totally reasonable isn't going to do you any favours my friend... If he didn't have any interest in selling them he wouldn't have posted that he had them would he? As it is, YOU have to decide how much you need them (in dollars), and then he can decide wether or not it's worth his while.

Ahh s**t - how many shops do you see with out price tags and instead have signs saying "make an offer" possibly less than %1 ... instead they have a sign saying I want $980 for this fridge, and a little bargaining room to drop the price a wee bit. It should be the same in this forum, 'Make an offer" is just someones way of taking advantage of someone who might be desperate or not know the value of the item.

i didn't get back to you about the mirrors because you did offer enough money to make it worth my time.
if people didnt want every thing for nothing my attitude would be different.

$70 for 2 freshly painted mirrors is a pathetic offer

yeah but a small "sorry I'm after more for them" doesn't take much effort...

Unless of course, the person selling doesn't really know the value either... but i know what you're saying.
