I'd imagined that your car already had one.. All you do is pull the handle off then pretty much pull the surround out. Use a screwdriver to lever it if you have to. Just remember to disconnect the globe from it before you pull it away.

thanks mate, but nah my dash has just got a cappucino one, and the old owner has put 4 dirty great big drill holes in it, resulting in a great big F*ck off crack through the center... so i thought i might upgrade to sumthin nicer

to get the surround out what you do is:
Twist the handle anti-clockwise until it comes off then with a screwdriver lift the surround out, unhook the globe and then it will just come out.
