 AU Sound System Information
Description
The Document outlines Information that is required when Installing, Fitting, and wiring an aftermarket Audio system to an AU Series Ford Falcon, Fairmont, Fairlane, LTD, and Tickford XR Models
This includes the following,
  • Removing the Factory Fitted Audio System
  • Factory Wiring Information, including Wire Colours, and Purpose
    As well as the above information, this document also outlines Factory options that may have been fitted, and how to intergrate these to an Aftermarket audio system.
    These options include,
  • Power Antenna Control Modules and Height Adjustment Switches.
  • Amplifier Location, and Wiring Information
  • Optional Speaker Placements, wattage, etc.
  • Factory Car Phone Mute wiring information
  • CD Stacker Placement, and Wiring Information
    Please Note : Obviously, some or all of the above options may not be fitted to all Falcon Models, but enough information is provided to determine what options are available, and what can be used with an Aftermarket System.
  • AU Falcon Factory Deck Removal
    To remove the Factory System, you will also need an Anti Tamper Torx Screwdriver or bit, as these screws are used to hold the Factory Deck mounting brakcet in place.
  • Open the Ash tray, and remove the 2 screws located behind the ashtray.
  • Remove the Centre Console Shroud, by unclipping it from the Instrument faschia
  • The mounting bracket used to secure the Factory sound system will now be visable, as will the Anti-Torx Screws. Depending on the Model (Base, Mid or Premium sound system), there may be 2 or 4 screws holding the assembly in place. Remove all visable Anti-Torx Screws.
  • The Factory Sound system should now slide out from its housing, complete with its mounting bracket. You will need to disconnect the electrical connectors, and Antenna Plug to remove the Deck completely form the vehicle.
  • Factory Amplifier Removal
    The Factory Fitted amplifier moule is fitted underneath the Boot Carpet, on the drivers side of the Vehicle, near the Rear brake lamp assembly.
    The Amplifier is mounted on a special Braket, which is Pop Rivetted to the Vehicle Chassis.
    To get access to to the amplifier, remove the Boot Lining carpet that covers the Drivers side Brake Lamp housing.
    Wiring for Low and Mid Series Decks

    Main Wiring Plug - 12 Pins
    Pin ?? Grey / Dark Green Negative (-) Speaker Line for the Right hand side Front speakers (Drivers Side)
    Pin ?? Orange / Light Green Nagative (-) Speaker Line for the Left hand side Front speakers (Passenger Side)
    Pin ?? Brown Button Backlighting (Park Lamps power)
    Pin ?? Yellow Constant Battery Voltage (+ Positve power)
    Pin ?? Violet / Red Accessories Power (As taken from the Ignition switch)
    Pin ?? Light Green Telephone Mute (Factory Telephone System)
    Pin ?? Red / Dark Blue Power Anttena Output (Positive Trigger) Used to extend the power antenna
    Pin ?? Dark Blue / Red Instrument Cluster LCD Backlight and Dimming Signal (Negative)
    Pin ?? Grey / Dark Green Positive (+) Speaker line for the right hand side Front speaker
    Pin ?? Orange / Black Positive (+) Speaker line for the Left hand side Front Speaker
    Pin ?? Dark Blue / Red Positive (+) Speaker line for the Right hand side Rear Speaker
    Pin ?? Red / Light Green Negative (-) Speaker line for the Right hand side Rear Speaker
    Pin ?? Pink / Dark Green Positive (+) Speaker line for the Left hand side Rear Speaker
    Pin ?? Pink / Black Negative (-) Speaker line for the Left hand side Rear Speaker
